Avec la formation de l’Empire allemand en 1871, des inventions sans précédent et l’utilisation systématique des technologies de l’arme telles que la poudre sans fumée, les obus explosifs et les canons à reculeurs indiquaient clairement que dans l’avenir, des armes lourdes joueraient un rôle décisif. En 1914, ce moment était venu.
Le volume illustré sur les uniformes de l'armée impériale de 1871 à 1914 et suit des livres sur la cavalerie, l'infanterie et les généraux, était des ministères et des généraux personnels qui ont déjà été publiés.
L’objet de ce livre, qui compte plus de 500 pages, est la diversité des objets utilisés dans l’artillerie. Des collections uniques, des uniformes, des épaulettes, des épaulettes, des armes blanches et d’autres objets sont clairement présentées au lecteur. Ce volume présente d'abord un aperçu de l'histoire formative du développement de l'artillerie allemande de 1871 à 1914, ainsi que des services techniques et des installations de formation. Les grands-duchés de Baden, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz et Oldenburg et le Duché de Brunswick sont traités. Cette représentation de la boîte d'artillerie se termine par les royaumes de Bavière, de Saxe et du Wurtemberg.
L'artillerie à pied existant par intermittence dans le Wurtemberg et enfin l'artillerie à pied royale bavaroise et royale saxonne.
La dernière partie du livre est consacrée aux services techniques et aux installations d’entraînement de l’artillerie.
Les quelque 600 objets présentés proviennent de diverses collections publiques et privées, notamment le musée de l'armée bavaroise à Ingolstadt, le musée d'histoire militaire des forces armées allemandes à Dresde et le musée d'histoire militaire à Rastatt. Parmi les objets photographiés figurent des pièces de personnages historiques célèbres tels que Louis II de Bavière et le prince héritier Rupprecht de Bavière.
